Take your fundraising to the next level with social media.
You can really take your fundraising to the next level with social media, because when others like, share or retweet your posts, it gives you a much wider audience. When you're ready to start fundraising, make sure to tell your friends & family on Facebook and ask them to share the link to your fundraising page.
You can find shareable images on our Facebook age and our YouTube channel. If you're holding an event of doing a physical challenge, share photos of you in action.

To increase you impact even more, record a short video of yourself telling everyone why you're fundraising for SOHK, and how they can help you make a difference.
Every time a friend of family member donates to your fundraising page, be sure to thank them on your social media channels - especially your personal Facebook page. This keeps the momentum going and has the bonus effect of guilt-tripping those who've yet to contribute. Don't hesitate to message friends directly and ask them to support your fundraising efforts.
If you're organising an event or taking part in one, make sure you use the appropriate hashtags and mention any relevant accounts. Why not create your very own fundraising hashtag using your name?
TAG US IN YOUR POSTS! @SOHKCharity on Facebook and Twitter
We love it when our supporters get creative, but just in case you need some inspiration, here are a few ideas for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and all the rest:
"I'm raising money for @sohk-charity. Please help me reach my target of <amount> by making a donation here: <insert link to your fundraising page>."
"Please help me raise funds for @sohkcharity by supporting me & my team at the #GreatBritishScrumPush <insert link to your fundraising page>"
"Help me raise £1,000 for @sohkcharity at <insert link to your fundraising page> #GeorgeRaises1000pounds"
"#CharityTuesday <photo of SOHK participants> Empower people to realise their potential. Help me support @sohkcharity <insert link to your fundraising page>"
"I'm fundraising for @sohkcharity to support those most in need of a helping hand. Will you help me to reach my next goal? <insert link to your fundraising page>"
"26 miles. 8 teams. 1 Guinness World Record to set. It's the #GreatBritishScrumPush. My team and I have set a fundraising goal of £1,000 in support of @sohkcharity"
"Thanks to <tag a donor> for supporting my fundraising drive! I'm only £100 away from my target - will you help me get there? <insert link to your fundraising page>
20% of sponsorship also comes in once an event has been completed so remember to tell everyone about your triumph, and thank donors for their support.
Start fundraising by emailing your close friends and family about your goal and asking them to contribute larger amounts. They'll help you get off to a good start, and email gives you the space you need to fully explain what inspired you to fundraise for SOHK.
Persistence really pays off - it's fine to send out an email reminder a few weeks after your first request and before your event - people genuinely forget, and will appreciate the prompt.
For a simple way to share what you're doing, put a link in your email signature for the duration of your campaign.
Email is a good place to tell personal stories that don't fit on Facebook and Twitter. Here are some quotes from actual SOHK participants whom we've helped.
